MOTORISED GLASS COMPASS AND STEEL AND GLASS STAIRCASE
Renovation and conversion of the old General Electric factory for the new Milanese hotel structure of the Nhow chain in Via Tortona.
The main entrance to the hotel is through a double tunnel motorised glass compass made of self-supporting tempered glass laminated with Vanceva coloured plastics. The glass compass is framed to a metal frame hanging from the ceiling. The ceiling is made of Barrisol, a PVC sheet stretched around the perimeter of the compass, embellishing the frame with polished stainless steel fittings and finishes.
The compass consists of four sliding glass doors that are completely frameless despite being four metres high and one metre and twenty metres wide. The sliding glass doors slide concealed within a column, also made of glass, which can be opened to allow access to the maintenance compartment for the automation components.
To reach the first floor of the hotel, Busnelli was commissioned to design the steel and glass staircase with two flights and a suspended landing.
The entire steel and glass staircase is juxtaposed with a false column that acts as an opaline light blade. The metal carpentry structure of the stringers is clad with panels made of pressed stainless steel sheet with a supermirror finish. The steps, on the other hand, are clad in bleached oak with a saw-cut surface finish. The parapets, made of self-supporting glass, are made of sheets on an extra-clear base.
The company's strong flexibility also allowed Busnelli to take care of the steel and glass double-leaf doors, the carpentry canopy covered in supermirror stainless steel, the motorised gates with laser-cut panels with powder coating, and the interior walls in laminated glass with sandblasted pattern.
