Requalification of an early 1900s' office building in Milan. The historical building's façades have been kept and restored, while those belonging to the most recent building have been replaced with a double-skin façade, composed by an inner aluminum continuous skin and an outer crystal skin. Aluminum infill elements are realized using particular elements for semi-structural façades.
The outer gazed skin sticks out from the original façade, placed five meters away in some particular points. The structure is realized in steel. The double skin façade mullions are chain connected to a shingle beam and to wind-bracing rods placed corresponding to the floors' bases.
Rod - sustained boardwalks necessary for inspections are designed in order to support horizontal loads. Mechanical standard elements support and place the glasses in their specific spots. A stainless steel canopy, sticking out 2 metres from the building profile, shades the whole façade.
