RESIDENZE GLI SCOGLI, CHIAVARI

Development: Ufficio Tecnico Busnelli
The new exclusive residential complex 'Gli Scogli' is located on the old Chiavari Shipyard, with sixty flats and the entire ground floor dedicated to commercial activities.
Given the complexity of the project, Busnelli was the most suitable company to deal with the engineering and realisation of the external works, which included approximately 1000 ml of painted aluminium expanded metal parapets, 190 ml of glass parapets and over 200 square metres of sheet metal cladding.
The conformation of the elevation to resemble the prow of a ship led to a particular alignment of the parapets, which, in addition to being curved, were sometimes inclined internally and sometimes externally. The design and engineering was therefore possible thanks to the use of the 3D Solidwork software; an essential tool for the double curvature machining of the expanded metal sheets in the workshop and for the construction of the tubular handrails and the AISI 316 L stainless steel uprights.
The stainless steel uprights were laser-formed from drawings, then satin-finished and provided with specific perforations for connecting the sheet metal panels. The aluminium expanded metal sheets were folded on the vertical sides and completely framed on the perimeter following the outline. The panels, thus composed, required a careful process of polyester powder painting in class C5M, as the building faces the sea.
